The busiest shopping day of the year is on the horizon and as most businesses are still feeling the effects of the pandemic, we’re here to help you capitalise your salon on Black Friday.
With various restrictions last year, Black Friday was predominantly an online event meaning salons that didn’t have an e-commerce store or lacked social media presence struggled to promote any product, service or treatment offers.
Not forgetting that most hairdressers and beauty therapists weren’t in the position to be giving out Black Friday discounts or freebies due to the financial burden of the pandemic.
Keeping this in mind, we want to focus on how you can market your business and maximise sales this Black Friday.
Let’s get social
Preparation is key! Start the conversation on your social media platforms leading up to Black Friday to build anticipation and promote your offers. Let people know that you’re participating! You could start a countdown on Instagram stories, give sneak previews of what’s available or create a poll to ask what people want to see.
Don’t forget to let your followers know what you’re offering on the day with a call to action. Tell them how to buy products, book appointments and enter any competitions. The easier it is for your audience to get involved, the more they’re likely to.
In it to win it!
The best way to get your clients talking about your business is by running a competition. For example, those who make an appointment on Black Friday for January are automatically entered into a prize draw to win money off their treatment. This encourages clients to book in and will boost appointments in your quieter months.
Or, why not build your social presence by running an Instagram comp?! Ask clients to follow your page, share your post and tag a friend to spread awareness of not only your Black Friday competition, but your business in general. Use a free comment generator online to select your winner.
The gift that keeps on giving…
Most consumer minds are in Christmas mode when shopping on Black Friday. And, for the person that’s got everything, gift cards make the perfect stocking filler or secret santa gift.
But what’s the incentive to buy a gift card on Black Friday? Offer added value by topping up the amount purchased. For example, if a customer buys a £25.00 gift card, round the value up to £30.00. Or if they buy a £100.00 gift card offer an additional money off voucher to be used separately.
Spread the word.
Grow your client base by offering a referral programme to existing customers. Offer 10% off their next treatment if a friend books an appointment in Jan or Feb to (you guessed it) boost appointments in quieter months.
Already do this? Why not up the percentage off exclusively for Black Friday?! Or, extend the offer so that the new client gets a discount too.
A special thank you
Give back to your loyal, regular clients as an exclusive treat in time for Christmas. This could simply be a goody bag of products from minis and samples to any old stock that you have. Or alternatively you could offer a free blow-dry with their next colour & cut or free hand massage with any nail treatment.
